Chapter 7, of the United States Bankruptcy Code, is the most common form of bankruptcies filed. It allows an individual or business to be discharged from most debts owed to creditiors with the option of retaining specific exempt property.

Chapter 13, of the United States Bankruptcy Code, allows an individual with a sustainable income to reorganize his or her debts through the use of a court approved plan.  If the Debtor completes the Court approved plan, a discharge will be granted to the Debtor and Creditors will no longer be permitted to pursue the debt.
